Abstract :

In this study, the main characteristics of the process up to Industry 4.0 will be explained with the help of technological transformations that happened in the various stages of the industrialization. Turkey’s position will be determined in terms of these revolutions and finally the topic of Industry 4.0 will be focused. The example of Germany considered as the founder of Industry 4.0, will be examined and with the help of outcomes from that example, the potential of Turkey to catch Industry 4.0 trend will be researched especially in terms of the ability to develop innovative technologies. At this stage, especially the view of the private sector about innovative technological developments related Industry 4.0 and the attitude of digitalization will be questioned. And more importantly, the study will be ended with suggestions on how the state that should work in coordination with the private sector needs to change the understanding of science, technology and industrial policies.
