Abstract :
From the date that it began to be published to the present day, many studies, books, essays,and criticisms including literary, religious, philosophical discussions have been written onthe novel of Yakup Kadri, Nur Baba (1922). The novel was criticized in both positive andnegative ways in Turkish literature. While the critics, who have a positive attitude, build it upa literary value, the ones who have the negative attitudes, claimed that Yakup Kadri had attributedthe Bektashism to a content, which is incompatible with Bektashism, and had shown it in a bad way. In literary studies, a treatise written by Bezmi Nusret (Kaygusuz) which was one of the critical writings of the period, titled Nur Baba Masalı, has been not focused on. The Nur Baba Masalı, which was written by Bezmi Nusret after the publication of Nur Baba (1922) was a refutation of Nur Baba and it was basically including a bi-directional assessments both on the literary aspects of Nur Baba and on the reflection way of Bektashism in the novel. In this work Nur Baba novel of Yakup Kadri and his attitude toward the criticisms of Nur Baba at the period will be analyzed by focusing on the “Bir İzah” and “İkinci İzah”, an introductory writing appears in the first (1922) and second (1923) editions of Nur Baba. Nur Baba Masalı, which was written by Bezmi Nusret will also be evaluated. It was transcribed to Latin alphabet and the opinions about Nur Baba, appearing in this booklet will be discussed.
