Abstract :
The activity concentration of radionuclides (eU, eTh, %K) in surface soil on the Isparta city centre have been measured using gamma ray spectrometer (GF Gamma Surveyor 2 x 2 (6.3 inc^3) NaI (TI)). In this region, concentration of the 238U, 232Th and 40K were found to be 10-23 ppm, 20-65 ppm, %2-%5.68, respectively the absorbed dose rate was in the rate of 150-365 nGy/h. Average air absorbed dose and effective dose rates have been calculated as 267 nGy/h and 1.26-2.24 mSv/year, respectively. For some specific subregions, the values of the annual effective dose rates exceed the average worldwide exposure value of 2.4 mSv/year proposed by OECD. Observed high level radioactivity is originating from products of the Gölcük explosive maar crater. Results showed that observed contributions of the radionuclides to the average dose rate are 19.55% of 40K, 35.45% of 238U and 45% of 232Th sources.
