Abstract :
In this study, 6 plain fabrics made from 100% cotton ring carded yarns were produced. The warp yarn and fabric sett of the fabrics were constant. Only the weft yarn twists were changed. Tearing resistance of fabric, abrasion resistance of fabric, pilling performance of fabric and wrinkle resistance of fabric were measured. After that the relationships between weft yarns twist and tearing resistance, abrasion resistance, and pilling and wrinkle resistance were investigated. According to the results by increasing weft yarn twist, weft tearing resistance of fabric and abrasion resistance of fabric increases. Low and high twist levels of weft yarns results in decreasing pilling performance and wrinkle resistance of fabric. Maximum pilling performance and abrasion resistance were obtained with medium twist level of weft yarns.
