Title Of Article :
Determination of Shallow Manmade Tunnels by Reflection and Surface Wave Methods, an Example of SDU Campus, Isparta
Abstract :
To determine the known location of a human made tunnel, a shallow seismic survey was performed. The tunnel, about 1.9x2.0 m in dimension, is a structure that was built for covering the electrics cables, gas and central heating pipes, and located underground about 1.7 m in Suleyman Demirel University campus. To determine the location of the tunnel, the seismic techniques, shallow reflection, MASW, and ReMi was performed. The known location was determined by comparison the shallow seismic reflection section and the S-wave velocity sections obtained by surface wave techniques, The interpretation of the sections obtained from MASW and ReMi that are sensitive to velocity variations became difficult when there are other corruptive objects at surroundings. However, the location may be determined easily if reflection section obtained is considered. As a result, it was demonstrated that the known location of a covered tunnel can be determined in case the jointly use of shallow seismic reflection and the surface wave techniques.
