A Survey Study on Production and Structural Conditions of Rainbow Trout Enterprises in Burdur Province

The study was carried out to determine the production and structure characteristics of rainbow trout farms located in the province of Burdur. The results indicated that 60.0 percent of these farms had a production using ordinary fish cages located in the dam water resources, while 40.0 percent of them had production using artificial or natural ponds and pools located in the natural water resources. It was demonstrated that 89.2 percent of farm are currently in production process, 6.2 percent were no longer in the process of production and 4.6 percent of them are just started to produce. It is determined that the 62.3 percent of the farmers were satisfied with the state subsidy given for the young and growing fishes. In conclusion, the rainbow trout farms were examined in details in order to demonstrate the present statues on fish production, fish husbandry, some environmental concerns and technical infrastructure (machinery and tools), and to recommend the solutions to the determined problems.
