Investigation of the Usability as Concrete Aggregate of Slates and Andesite

Abstract
In this study, usability of andesite and slate that are employed generally at decoration and restoration of interior and exterior coverings of structures, as concrete aggregate. Two different cement types (CEM II/B-M (P-LL) 32.5 N and CEM I 42.5 R) are used with %25, %50, %75 and %100 replacement of aggregate. According to results acquired, mechanical and physical properties of concrete prepared with waste minerals of andesite and slate can be improved as compared to witness sample (can improve compressive strength %17.8 at samples of slate, %12.3 at samples of andesite, splitting tensile strength %16.7 at samples of slate, %8.6 at samples of andesite and bending strength %22.9 at samples of slate, %8.6 at samples of andesite). It is come to the conclusion that produced samples meet requirements of relevant standard and waste minerals of andesite and slate can be used at concrete mixtures.
