  • Abstract
In this study, effects of the essential oils of different plants (juniper, clove, lavender) on Green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulz.) (Hemiptera: Aphididae), and its natural enemy, Green lacewing, Chrysoperla carnea (Stephens) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae), were investigated under laboratory conditions. Treatments were conducted in climatized rooms with 25±1° C temperature, 60±5 % RH and 16:8 L:D conditions. The aphids were reared on pepper plants (Capsicum annuum L.) and predators on the aphid. Effects of essential oils were investigated by spraying method. Sterile distilled water was used in the control treatments. Dead–live counts were made at 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th days after application. Effects of essential oils were evaluated by Abbott formula. Experiments were performed with 5 replications. According to the results, efficacy of clove, lavander and juniper oils against the aphid at 7th day were 78.26, 69.57 and 47.83 %, respectively. All the essential oils were found to be harmless to the predator.
