Abstract :
In this study effects of seedbed density on morphology, root growth potential and carbohydrate content of 1+0 bareroot stinking juniper (Juniperus foetidissima wild.) seedlings were investigated. 6 different seedbed densities and control treatment (100, 150, 200, 300, 400, 700 (control) seedling/ m²) in 1 m² field on sowing brick were applied. Furthermore, seedlings evaluation was completed according TS2265/March 1976 and TS2265/February 1988 dated seedlings quality standards. According to the results of the study, although seedbed density was effective on the root collar diameter, seedling height, dry shoot, root and seedling weight, shoot - root ratio, root percentage, sturdiness quotient, Dickson quality index, total root carbohydrate content and root growth capacity, it was not effective on the branch number. Seedlings in the treatment located 100 seedlings have larger root collar diameter, shoot dry weight and also have higher root growth potential. As a result, it has been thought that it would be appropriate to be 100 seedlings per m² for the sowing practices in Eğirdir forest nursery both to ensure better seedling growth and to obtain more quality seedlings in stinking juniper. In addition, the results indicated that seedlings could be produced with 400 seedlings/ m² density in the nursery.
