Abstract :
Gastroesophageal reflux is a disease of the stomach in which the stomach on tent sleak back into the esophagus because of loss of function in the lower esophageal valve. The disease is diagnosed by invasive techniques. The pH meter technique is accepted as the gold standard in diagnosis although it has many disadvantages. Electrogastrography (EGG) is a method to measure the stomach’s electrical activity via surface electrodes on the skin. In this study, the EGG signals obtained from healthy subjects and patients with gastroesophageal reflux were analyzed using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Power Spectral Density (PSD). The main purpose of the study was to obtain the characteristics of EGG signals to assist in diagnosis. In conclusion, features were extracted to reveal difference between EGG of reflux patiens and healty person. Also, the most appropriate point placement of electrodes is provided to be used for the diagnosis of reflux disease.
