Abstract :
This study focuses on the process of the secularization of the religious plays developed during and after the medieval Spain and tries to determine the position of Lope de Vega in this process. The theatre itself used as a medium of the Catholic doctrine, by time becomes a mirror, a reflection of the society. Lope de Vega, who thinks the theatre must correspond the requirements of the era, has an important role in the formation of a theatre tradition. In this study, the changes in the perception of theatre during the Renaissance and Baroque periods is handled according to the views of the Lope de Vega, who is accepted as the founder of the National Theatre
