  • Abstract
    Attitudes towards a lesson most probably affect the success on this lesson or attitudes towards a lesson most probably direct the students’ self-efficacy beliefs. For this reason, to search the relationship between the attitudes and self-efficacy beliefs is crucial. In this research which the investigation of attitudes towards English Lesson in terms of self-efficacy beliefs and some variables has been done, the attitudes towards English Lesson and self-efficacy beliefs about English Lesson of the students who study at Afyon Kocatepe University have been tried to be identified. In this research, general survey model has been used. To determine the attitudes of 202 students towards English Lesson, a 5 point likert scale which has 56 items and a 5 point likert scale which has 34 items to determine the self-efficacy beliefs on English Lesson have been used. T-test, one way of variance analysis, Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U test have been used to find out if there is a significant meaning between the descriptive variables such as gender, age, department, midterm grade, whether the preparatory class has been taken or not and the dominant self-efficacy belief. According to the analysis, in general students have positive attitudes towards English Lesson. In terms of gender and students’ study fields; there is no significant difference between the groups whereas in terms of students’ age, whether they studied at a preparatory class in high school, their midterm grades and their dominant self-efficacy beliefs, there are significant differences between the groups
