POWER-SHARING IN LEARNING-TEACHING PROCESS
Abstract :
It is observed that the studies on power and politics are few because the concept of power has a wide scope and its relationship with the other terms is obscure. The concept of power as a social phonemenon hasn’t been handled in context of classroom environment in Turkey. Learner centered approaches recommend that power be shared with the students in order to make them active and critical thinkers. Therefore, power sharing enables a learning process in which classroom procedures, course content, classroom roles and assessment are negotiated. This study examines power sharing and its components and presents recommendations for power sharing practices in classroom environment.
