SHEAR BOND STRENGTH OF BRACKETS BONDEDWITH DIFFERENTAGENTS TO INTRACORONALLY BLEACHED TEETH
Abstract :
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the shear bond strength (SBS) and the adhesive remnant index (ARI) scores of the metal brackets bonded to intracoronally bleached teeth by using different bonding agents. Material and Method: Thirty-six mandibular central incisor teeth were endodontically treated, intracoronally bleached and divided into three groups (n=12). Metal brackets were bonded to the teeth in the first group by using Transbond XT, in the second group by a resin modified glass ionomer cement and third group by Clearfil Protect Bond. The brackets were stressed with a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min by using a universal test machine until debonding. The SBS and ARI scores of all teeth were recorded. Results: The highest SBS score were recorded as 13,65 ± 1,90MPa in the third group (Clearfil Protect Bond group) whereas the lowest SBS score of 8,77 ± 1,43 MPa belongs to the second group (glass ionomer cement group). The adhesive failures were observed commonly in the enameladhesive interphase in the third group. Conclusion: The highest bracket bonding values of the intracoronally bleached teeth were achieved by Clearfil Protect Bond.
