Material and Method: The emergency dental treatment services applied to patients between ages 2-16 years who referred to Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry Department of Pedodontics in year 2010 has been evaluated. Complaint, cause of emergency referral and the treatment of patients admitted as emergency according to their history and physical examination has been evaluated cross-sectionally and retrospectively. Results: According to patient records, 25253 patients were treated in our clinic in 2010.1367 patients were evaluated as emergency aid and treated without appointment as a result of their history and physical examination. 593 patients were girls (43.4%) and 774 were boys (56.6%). The average age of these patients was 7.62 (± 3.35) years. 1101 (80.5%) of these patients were treated as emergency with dental pain (acute onset begun spontaneously, pain in percussion and night pain) whereas 138 (10.1%) patients had dental trauma and 127 (9.4%) of emergency patients were treated because of acute apical abscess and facial cellulitis. 138 of these patients had emergency trauma treatment, 128 patients were treated with drainage, 357 patients were treated with tooth extraction and 450 patients were treated with root canal treatment while 294 of these patients could not cooperate to treatment and referred to treatment under sedation. Conclusion: In this study, the prevalence of emergency dental treatment in paediatric patients was found as 5.41%. It has been found that the most common cause of referral was pulpal pain and the most frequently type of treatment was root-canal treatment.
