Abstract :
Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of age and education on family planning methods of women. Methods: A total of 250 patients who were admitted with various gynecological complaints between April 2015-August 2015 were included in this study. Aged below 18 and pregnant were excluded from the study. The questionnaire including the data of sociodemographic values and family planning methods usage was completed by face-to-face interview. Age, marital status, marriage duration, education, spouse’s education, occupation, and social security status were recorded. In addition, patients’ obstetric characteristics including first pregnancy age, parity, number of stillbirth, number of abortus, number of abortion, number of child, and number of undesired pregnancy were recorded. Results: Since coitus interruptus was the most preferred family planning method in all age groups, condom was found as the most used modern method. While coitus interruptus was the most frequent technique among primary and secondary school graduated women, high school and university graduated women were preferred the coitus interruptus and condom at the same ratio. Conclusion: It is suggested that mother and baby health through planned pregnancy may be protected by age specific efficient family planning counseling to avoid undesired pregnancy.
