Abstract :
Assembly lines can be defined, as workstations lined up in a row connected with material handling systems. The major problem occurs in enterprises that use assembly lines, is minimizing the idle time. In this sense, in order to minimize the cost or even reduce it to zero, besides to improve the quality of the production, assembly line balancing methods have been developed. In this study, position weight method is used as an intuitive method for single model U type assembly line balancing problem in a company that manufactures safety and security equipments. As a result of balancing work, the number of the stations has remained the same while the cycle time has im-proved. Efficiency of the line has been calculated again with newly formed cycle time. The calculation results indicate an increase in efficiency level of the line.
