Abstract :
Military units aren’t different from other public institutions to procure supply materials during peacetime. But, procuring these needs is more important in the battlefield and this affects unit’s combat ability directly. One of these supply materials is fuel. Transporting and distributing fuel is one of the critical components of tactical logistics. Fuel distribution chain from bulk storage to the users was studied in this paper. Two different types of distribution network were designed in order to ensure providing forces with the right fuel, in the right place at the right time. In order to analyze the distribution networks, discrete event simulation models were built and by evaluating system performance, alternatives were compared with each other in accordance with their costs. According to the results, second alternative is better than first one. In this alternative, it is proposed mixed type which composed of contractor’s and unit’s tankers.
