Title Of Article :
AN ASSESSMENT ON THE EFFECT OF PUBLİC EXPENDİTURES ON TOTAL EMPLOYMENT IN TURKEY
Abstract :
This study examines the effect of public expenditure consisting of current investment and transfer expenditures on employment. Data used in the study is compiled from a period between 1990 and 2013. We applied unit root (ADF) and Granger causality tests to examine the data for Turkey. Our results indicate that there is no causality running from public expenditure to employment. However, our findings show that there is a causality running from employment to current public expenditure. Furthermore, according to our regression results, private sector investment expenditure affects employment positively. This result implies that a % 1 increase in private sector investment gives way to a % 0,12 increase in employment.
