Abstract :
Informal communication is the spontaneous form of communication which is a result of the relationship between the members of the organization. Formal communication when creating the skeletal system of an organization, informal communication constitutes the central nervous system of an organization. Employees; forming informal groups to share information, participating intra- organizational small talks, mobilizing the gossip and rumors net-work through scandalmonger, making jokes to transform unacceptable behaviors in organizations into more ac-ceptable ones, spending time together and arranging social events, using virtual communication to communicate informally in organizations and manager’s informal visitations to their employees are certain of informal commu-nication channels take place in organizations. In conclusion of this study; informal communication channels in organizations have emerged many advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, especially the managers of the organizations must take into account the informal communication channels that supports the formal communication process and should not underestimate these informal communication channels.
