Abstract :
21. the century is a century in which children are among the first to be subjected to rights violations in our country and in the world. It is important that children who are physiologically and psychologically at a disadvantage compared to adults know their rights to protect themselves. Raising awareness of children s rights may be possible through the educational process. In this context, teachers who have a positive attitude and who are equipped with teaching programs that include children s rights and children s rights are considered to be important. The aim of this study is to examine the attitudes towards children s rights of prospective teachers in the social studies curriculum, which includes Child Rights content, in the context of various variables. A general screening model was used in the study. Department of social studies teaching at a State University in Central Anatolia 1. and 4. there are 88 candidates of teachers who study in their classrooms. The research data was collected through Kepenekci s (2006) “attitudes towards children s rights scale”. The findings from the research show that social studies teacher candidates attitudes towards children s rights are largely positive. Another finding of the study was that the attitudes of female teacher candidates towards children s rights were more positive compared to male teacher candidates. However, there was no significant correlation between the classroom levels of the prospective teachers, their parents educational status, and the placement where they spent the majority of their lives and their attitudes towards children s rights.
