Title Of Article :
Natural Treatment Of Leachate
Abstract :
In this study general knowledge was given and discussed about natural treatment of leachates. Leachate which is a complex wastewater as a result of the various pollutants in it results from the degradation of garbage in the solid waste sites. Leachates those originate from the degradation of various solid wastes have more concentrated (physically, chemically and biologically) pollution load than most of the domestic and industrial wastewaters because leachates could have high amount of organic matter, inorganic matter (sodium chloride and carbonate) and heavy metal. Leachates cause serious pollution in the environment unless treated properly. Various methods are used to treat leachates. Natural treatment systems, in these methods, have recently gained importance. Treatment of leachates by natural systems seems environmentally advisable. Natural treatment systems are preferred because of the some properties. They are economic and do not require much human power. Furthermore, maintanance of them is simple and their energy requirement is low. These systems which are used for the removal of domestic and industrial wastewaters could be particularly used in the areas with low population and rural areas for the treatment of leachates.
