Title Of Article :
Seismic Assessment of Afyonkarahisar Government Administration Building according to DBYBHY 07
Abstract :
State and local government administration buildings serving critical functions must be undamaged after the earthquake in a potential disaster. The recent earthquakes in the last 20 years in Turkey, public buildings having higher building importance factor have been damaged and some of them even collapsed. These groups of buildings had remained out of service at the time they were needed most. This reality enforces seismic safety assessment of the public buildings such as government administration buildings. In this study, the seismic safety of Afyonkarahisar Government Administration building designed based on 1975 Turkish Earthquake Code is assessed according to 2007 Turkish Earthquake Code (DBYBHY 07). Obtaining examined parameters and analysis procedures for evaluation of the seismic safety are included in the scope of assessment. As a result of these studies, the application of DBYBHY 07 on public buildings is illustrated. In preparation for future earthquake and hazard reduction studies, the designers working on the evaluation of seismic risk grouping for public buildings and the state authority taking required measures will have the opportunity to consider this subject in a scientific format according to the frame of this study.
