Title Of Article :
Iron Removal by HCl Acid Leaching From BaTa2O6 Ceramic Produced by Mechanochemical Synthesis
Abstract :
Hydrochloric acid leaching was applied to remove iron impurity from BaTa2O6 ceramic produced by mechanochemical synthesis. Leaching was performed using acid concentration of 6-12 M HCl, temperature of 95-105 °C and leaching time of 1-15 h. Fe impurity content in the leached powders was determined by EDS analysis. 10.36% Fe content in the milled powder decreased to 1.97-3.16% indicating 70-81% reduction in iron content after leaching. Leach temperature was more effective than concentration in iron removal. Most of the iron impurity in BaTa2O6 ceramic powder was removed after 1h of leaching due to low activation energy and rapid micropore growth. Nevertheless, the iron content cannot be decreased to low levels due to high iron content in the cracks and voids.
