Abstract :
When (K0.5Na0.5)NbO3 (KNN) is fabricated with crystallographic texture using reactive templated grain growth (RTGG) it can achieve piezoelectric properties that are comparable to lead zirconate titanate ceramics. NaNbO3 (NN) particles are used as template particles to fabricate textured KNN ceramics. In this study, Plate-like Bi2.5Na3.5Nb5O18 (BNN) precursor particles were produced using molten salt synthesis (MSS) technique in the first stage. In the second stage, NaNbO3 (NN) particles were obtained through topochemical crystal transformation technique. BNN and NN synthesized with various salt / powder ratios at 1150°C and 975°C for 6 h, respectively. The effect of salt/powder ratio on the phase composition and microstructure of BNN and NN crystals were investigated.
