Abstract :
In this study, TiAl and FeAl coating was carry out on AISI 1010 steel by pressure assisted combustion synthesis method in open air under an uniaxial pressure of 150 MPa at 1050 °C for 60 minutes using titanium powder with 45μm size, aluminium powder with 15μm and iron powder with 1-9μm size having 99.5%, 99% and 99.9% purity, respectively. Microstructural examinations showed that the TiAl coating have multi-phase microstructure with porosity. The XRD patterns of test materials indicate that the TiAl and Ti3Al phases present in the samples. The hardness value of TiAl coating layer was about 509±80,8Hv. Microstructural examinations showed that the FeAl coating have single-phase microstructure. XRD studies revealed that FeAl phase and The hardness value of FeAl coating layer was about 408,3±30,3Hv.
