Abstract
In this study, blends of acetyl benzofuran methacrylate polymer (ABM) with styrene (St) andacrylonitrile (AN) polymers in different polymer percentages were prepared. Existing copolymers and prepared blends were characterized by FT‐IR and 1H‐NMR. Physical and biological properties of the copolymer and blends were studied and compared with each other. While thermal properties of blends were investigated by DSC and TGA techniques, their average molecular weights were determined with GPC technique. When the results were examined homogeneous distribution was observed for ABM‐AN blends whereas it was not observed in case of ABM‐St blends. These results were supported by GPC measurements. Dielectric constant of the copolymers and the blends were measured versus frequency while their dielectric constant (έ), dielectric loss factor (ɛ’’) and lnσ were measured versus temperature. It was identified that blends showed insulating characteristic in the dielectric measurements. It was found that blends didn’t show antimicrobial properties as results of biological investigations.
