Abstract :
In this study; three different heat treatments were carried out for unalloyed nodular cast iron.These methods are austempering, pack boriding and boro‐tempering. Wear and tensile tests wereperformed for heat treated cast irons. Characterization of microstructure was performed usingoptical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The standard samples with size of Ø 25x7mm were used for wear tests. The mechanical properties of bortempered ductile iron specimens are higher than that of borided ductile iron specimens but less than that of austempered ductile iron specimens. However, it was observed that the surface hardness of bortempered ductile iron specimens is comparatively higher than that of austempered ductile iron specimens. The wear tests showed that the friction coefficient and wear rate of borotempered samples were superior compared to borided and austempered samples.
