Title Of Article :
The Effects on The Mechanical Properties of The Usage of Coupling Agent into Polyethylene Composites Reinforced with Microcrystalline Cellulose and Nanoclay
Abstract :
PE‐grafted maleic anhydride (PE‐g‐MA) was used as a compatibilizer to enhance dispersion of nanoclay and microcrystalline cellulose in the PE matrices. Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and nanoclay based high density polyethylene (HDPE) composites with coupling agent (PE‐g‐MA) were produced by using a combination of single screw extruder (SSE) and extensional flow mixer and masterbatch method. The tensile, flexural and impact properties were investigated to compare material behavior of the MCCfilled HDPE composites and nanoclay‐filled HDPE composites. The addition of coupling agent to nanoclay filled HDPE composites resulted in higher tensile and flexural strength values compared with MCC filled HDPE composites. The maximum tensile and flexural strength values were obtained from 4%PE‐g‐MA for MCC filled HDPE composites.
