Constitution of Flood Inundation Maps and Flood Damage Analysis: A Case Study of Akarcay Afyon Subbasin
Abstract :
In case of decreasing water conductivity capacity or excessive water occurrence in a river bed results with upsurges of streambed. This situation is called as flood, which is one of important disasters and it causes life and other damage, so precaution is necessary. Akarcay Basin, which is a sediment basin and has no output to a sea or other basin, has high flood risk because of its geological and topographical properties. In this paper, it is aimed to calculate water levels and submerged areas of Akarcay Afyon Subbasin that is the most developed and important region of Akarcay Basin in terms of residential area, economical and industrial development, for flood flows with various recurrence intervals using HEC RAS software. Afterwards, flood damage estimation is performed by the help of various water depthdamage curves that take part in literature, considering mean water level.
