Abstract :
In this study, trachyte rocks from Kınık region of Dinar, Afyonkarahisar have been investigated for evaluation of the K-feldspar potential. Polarizing microscopy analysis from thin sections, X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis and chemical analysis are performed with taken rock samples. As a result of these analyses, a large amount of phenocrysts sanidine mineral and also illite, montmorillonite, muscovite and diopside are observed in the trachyte rocks. As a result of chemical analysis, the major component of trachyte is found as SiO2 with 56.00%. Others are listed in order; 19.50% Al2O3, 11.30% K2O, 4.50% Fe2O3, Chemical analysis results represent that subjected trachyte rock type is alkaline trachyte. Production of sanidine concentration is done with magnetic separation method after the sizereduction process. When we compare the chemical analysis values of potassium feldspar (sanidine), which obtained from enrichment of trachyte, with chemical values at TS 11325 standards; K2O value has the required value (≥9%), Na2O value (≤3%). Also, the other values satisfy the qualifications.
