Abstract :
Çeviriye Bilimsel Yaklaşımlar (Scientific Approaches to Translation) is a book consisting of seven papers, which were either published in books or journals or presented in conferences before. The common feature of these papers is though, that they all deal with translation studies. Nedret Kuran Burçoğlu is a researcher with a wide range of academic background, studying comparative literature, translation studies and imagology and conducting interdisciplinary research. One can see her interdisciplinary standpoint in all the papers included in the book. The first two studies, namely Yazın Çevirisi Kuramı‟na Çağdaş Yaklaşımlar (Modern Approaches to Literary Translation Theory) and Çeviri ve Yazın Kuramları Arasındaki Bağlar (Links Between Translation and Literary Theory) deal with literary theory and translation studies; “Öteki” İmgesinin Oluşması‟nda Çeviri‟nin Rolü (The Role of Translation in the Emergence of the Image of the „Other‟) is concerned with the relationship between imagology and translation studies. Türkiye‟de Faust (1900-1983) (Faust in Turkey (1900-1983)) and Burhanettin Batıman‟ın Friedrich von Schiller‟den Yaptığı Ballad Çevirileri‟nin Çağdaş Çeviri Eleştirisi Yaklaşımları Açısından Değerlendirilmesi (The Evaluation of the Translations of Friedrich Schiller‟s Ballads by Burhanettin Batıman in light of Modern Translation Critics Approaches) highlight the background of the author about literary history, especially German literature and translation studies. As for the final study of the book, Ferideddin-i Attar‟ın Mantıku‟t Tayr adlı Yapıtı‟nın 14, 16, 17 ve 20. Yüzyıllar‟da Yapılmış Türkçe Yeniden Yazımları (The Rewritings of Ferideddin-i Attar‟s Mantıku‟t Tayr in the 14th, 16th, 17th and 20th Centuries) which was co-authored by Kuran Burçoğlu and Zehra Toska, links translation studies and history of Turkish literature and culture. It should be noted though, that in all the papers, the focus is on translation studies.
