Department of Modern Languages and Translation of University of Trieste in Italy held an International Conference titled “Emerging Topics in Translation and Interpreting” between 16-18 June, 2010. The date of the Conference was chosen symbolically to coincide and commemorate the Irish writer James Joyce, who lived in the city of Trieste for a period of time where he also wrote his masterpiece Ulysses. The novel which was written with the stream of consciousness technique and telling about a day in the life of its protagonist Leonard Bloom took place on the date of June 16.
