Abstract :

I.U. Journal of Translation Studies, is a refereed international journal of regional research, as is stated in our manifesto. Its primary objective is to publish articles that promote the discussion of translational phenomena and data that originate in our region and language, which do not seem to be very visible in the Western world, to discuss them under the light of contemporary translation theories and share them with translation scholars in the international arena. Based on this objective, we planned to publish a Special Issue in the publication period of 2012-2013, the “Call for Papers” for which we had shared with translation scholars. Our aim was to provide space for the publication of bibliographical studies that were based on the translations of works from Turkish into other languages and articles that would evaluate these bibliographies. By doing so, we were hoping to serve as an intermediary for the presentation of bibliographical data to other researchers, as well as sharing the findings of the articles that would evaluate the bibliographies with colleagues to promote further academic discussion. Yet, we fell short of receiving the thematic works in question before the deadline and as a refereed academic journal that is required to publish two issues annually we were obliged to cancel the Special Issue project. We decided, instead, to follow the announced thematic line in the upcoming issues in keeping with the objectives of the Journal. As such, the 5th Issue compiled articles by researchers who submitted their works in line with the theme. We, thus, hope to promote the discussion of the presence of Turkish works in other languages with various components and actors involved in their translation at national and international platforms and will be happy to publish articles on the same theme in the coming issues as well
