Abstract :
The advances in information technologies have also changed the working environment in translation market. The number and variety of translation technologies have expanded. The translation market expects translators to be agents that quickly adapt to available translation technologies and have up to date information on advances in the area. Academic translation education institutions have a fundamental role in realizing that expectation. It is important that the institutions take current conditions of the translation market into account when preparing their curricula. However, we have observed that in the translation studies literature, there is no consensus on how to actualize this expectation and how to incorporate technology education into translation education. On the other hand, the translation market also contributes to the discussion in the translation studies literature with its own perspective and discourse. In this study, our aim was to answer the question of how to incorporate technology education into translation education by utilizing the data from both the literature and our observations during the Information Technologies in Translation course that is offered at Istanbul University, Department of English Translation and Interpreting.
