Abstract
Eco-mapping is a practical method for environmental assessment, a supportive approach for training and communication and a tool that collect data and that forms the basis of environmental documentation for businesses. Eco-mapping is a visual tool, which is particularly designed to define or identify the documents necessary for environmental assessment, can be prepared in a short period of time and can define all practical and environmental impacts within the enterprise. In this study, eco-mapping concept was described in a comprehensive manner and a sample application was carried out for environmental chemistry laboratory of Erciyes University, Department of Environmental Engineering. In addition, special symbols was developed and used for eco-mappings. The problems defined in this study include 5 topics, wastewater, odour, noise, dust and risk, and in this context, 5 base maps were used. Findings obtained in this study are presented with their solutions.
