Abstract :
In this study, appropriate performance graded (PG) binder class for region according to Superp system was selected by using Meteorologiy Nation Directorate weather temperature database Elazığ application region and the suitability of selected binder was investigated by measuring performance level. At this aim, the binder class was determined by considernig the highest and low temperatures for recent 20 years, geographical location and traffic conditions of region. T penetration graded which are B 70/100 and B 160/220 bituminous binders obtained from TÜPR refinery was aged with Rolling Thin Film Oven Test (RTFOT) method and furthermore their mix and pressing temperatures were fixed by applying Rotational Viscometer (RV) experiment. The h temperature performance levels of binders were determined by applying Dynamic Shear Rheom (DSR) experiment before and after aging processes. The aged bituminous binders were fixed applying Bending Beam Rheometer (BBR) experiment and the low temperature performance levels pavement just builded were determined. It was determined with respect to obtained results tha 70/100 binder has suitable performance properties for Elazığ region climate conditions, resistance running and low temperature cracking and on contrary, performance properties of B 160/220 bin was determined as unqualified.
