Title Of Article :
Design of a microprocessor based electronic governor system for micro and mini hydroelectric power plants
Abstract :
In this study, a prototype of an electronic control system that is suitable for use in micro and mini hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) and capable of setting the turbine inlet water by reference to the grid frequency has been carried out. In this microprocessor-based system, the frequency of the alternator is measured with a zero-crossing circuit. The designed governor system will simplify the connection of power plants to the interconnected system and will eliminate the frequency fluctuations in the system in a very short of time. In this system, using the microprocessor, the mechanical losses and response time are minimized and when compared with PLC in terms of cost, a more appropriate control system has been introduced. The total efficiency, equipment life, flexibility and reliability of the system are increased with the proposed governor system.
