Abstract :
Liability encourages managers to adopt a precautionary approach, and the potential costs to the company create an incentive for avoidance of harm. Environmental liability insurance is a tool for managing environmental risk. The insurance industry has become a key player in environmental management. Environmental liability insurance policies reduces risks to human health and the environment from contaminants. Adjustment an adequate financing for these risk the insurance industry is based on the quantifiable nature of risk. The insurer needs a certain amount of information about the probability and pos sible extent of damage of a certain risk. Several criteria should be fulfilled in order to quantify risk.
