Drinking and domestic water demand of Antalya province and some proposals
Abstract :
Accurate prediction of population and water demand is great of importance in terms of planning and management of water resources. In this study, the method best represents the increase in population was investigated with using different population forecasting methods (arithmetic method, geometric method, the method of İller Bankası and regression analysis method) for the downtown of Antalya and errors were calculated by root mean square error. Water requirement calculated considering population was compared with water requirement calculated considering water consumption data and assessment of existing water resources were made. As a result of this study, it was calculated that the method gives minimum error for population prediction was exponential regression analysis method. It was predicted that Karacaören II Dam which was decided to receive water will be remained inadequate in the year 2041 and therefore, new water resources such as Manavgat Stream will be needed before this date to avoid water shortage
