Abstract :
In this study, the bearing capacity of multi-edge model footings rested on geogrid reinforced loose sand beds was investigated. H, +, T and square shaped model footings were used in the tests. Geogrid layers were used for reinforcement members. The effects of the parameters such as the footing geometry (H, +, T and the square shaped), soil type (loose sand) and geogrid replacement configuration (the depth of the first geogrid, spacing between geogrids, geogrid numbers) on the bearing capacity characteristics and failure mechanism of multi-edge model footings rested on geogrid reinforced loose sand beds was examined with a total of 64 tests. Experimental results show that there is an increase in the bearing capacity of the loose sands with the inclusion of the geogrid reinforcement.
