Abstract
Roller blind fabrics are preferred and commonly used in home and office. These fabrics are produced by coating the acrylic material which are known by their UV properties, onto polyester woven fabrics. In this study, in order to characterize the physical and mechanical properties of roller blind fabrics, coating material in three different percentages of acrylic are applied on to four different polyester woven structures. Tensile, air permeability and water repellency properties of these fabrics are measured and investigated. Since the inter-yarn friction forces are decreased by coating, breaking strength values decrease. As increasing acrylic ratio to a definite value, air permeability values decrease and water repellency values increase, as expected. However, increasing air and water pressure values causes the moving of acrylic coating material away from the fabric structure, since coating material becomes brittle by increasing acrylic ratio and water repellency decrease, air permeability increase.
