Solution of undeterminate frame system with variable section using castigliano’s theorem and mathematica
Abstract :
In the study, it is shown that how the support reactions of an undeterminate one storey bar-frame system with variable section and, function of internal moment distribution are found using Mathamatica package program. Sections are taken on frame system, the reference points are taken for a section where moment of inertia or load cause discontiniouity. For those sections, functions of internal moment and functions of moment of inertia are obtained. Since the frame system is undeterminate, in addition to equilibrium equations, the compatibility equations are obtained by employing Castigliano’s second teorem in the Mathematica medium having symbolic operation ability. Support reactions of undeterminate frame system are solved using the equilibrium and compatibility equations simultaneously.
