Abstract :
Yozgat city is one of the oldest settlements in Anatolia. Yozgat province experienced rapid migration from the village to the city in the 1980s and then increased needs of the city so it was late for administrators. In this case, has led to the emergence of some problems with the village-city conflict in the development of the city over time. Also not implemented long-term upper-scale plans in Yozgat, after 1996 segmented plans, unconscious public in the city, unplanned construction, lack of social, infrastructure areas and pedestrian pathways, traffic and parking problems, business centers and recreation areas, so it has led to the emergence of urban problems. This problems need to be resolved for more healthy, safe, sustainable urban and living environment. In this study firstly, urbanization, socio-economic status and potential, spatial development and implemented plans of Yozgat city center have been studied. Later, have been introducad what are the major problems of urbanization in Yozgat city center according to findings obtained from this study. Finally, solutions have to be developed of urbanization problems in order to ensure urban sustainability and more livable environment.
