Abstract :
This study was carried out to determine Flora of Elmalı Dağı (Kayseri) and its surroundings. According to Grid Square System of Davis (1965), the research area which has been established by considering the latitude and longitude degrees is in the B5 square. The altitude of the research area is between 1150-1800 m. Between 2010-2013, a total of 765 plant specimens were collected from the research area. The flora of research region was identifed 65 families, 245 genera and 465 taxa (287 species, 109 subspecies and 69 varieties). While 1 out of the total taxa is belong to Pteridophyta division, the remaining 464 taxa is belong to Spermatophyta division. Gymnospermae subdivision has 3 and Angiospermae subdivision has 461 taxa Respectively, 397 of the taxa are in the Dicotyledoneae class, 64 of the taxa are in Monocotyledonea class, which belong to Angiospermae subdividion. The number of endemic plants is 73 (15.7 %). The distribution of taxa within the phytogeographical regions is as follows: Irano –Turanian elements 144 (30.97 %), Euro –Siberian elements 22 (4.73 %), Mediterranean elements 35 (7.52 %). 264 (% 56.77) of 465 taxa identified in the study area are widely distributed and located in unknown phytogeographic region group and these are make up more than half of all taxa.
