Abstract
The world is facing many serious environmental problems. Global warming problem has reached such a critical point that there is no time to delay taking action. Therefore, we should not only set our hope on technological developments but also should create realistic solutions using traditional technology. In this study, the negative effects spread by antimony used as a lubricant in the brake pads in cars to environment by getting worn were investigated. Brake linings are used in mechanical power transmission of cars. Pads emit particles into the environment being exposed to corrosion due to heat during braking. These particles, Antimony that is used as a lubricant, especially in the lining (Sb) may create cancer risk on human. For this reason, Intelligent Product System should be used for healthy life and environmentally friendly alternatives and pads should be composed of materials with eco-design.
