Title Of Article :
Investigation of Efficiency of Roofing Materials in Changing Climatic Conditions- Safranbolu Example
Abstract :
Humankind have been desire to development continuously. Thanks to the desire progress has been made in technology and industry. However, these developments have revealed artificial interactions that effect on the internal balance of nature. The most important of these effects is climate change. Climate change modifies precipitation patterns, disrupts precipitation frequencies and quality, and reduces water resources due to drought. In addition to this situation, over-construction in cities also reduces the water-permeable areas and prevents the feeding of water resources. All these problems further increase the importance of efficient use of water, which is the most important resource for the sustainability of life. Therefore, there is a need for the development of various solution proposals for this situation. In architectural sense, it is important to create options (choice of material, search for form, etc.) especially on roofs which are areas rainfall first contact with the structure and water storage areas in the building form. Within the scope of this study, the roofs, precipitation areas, existing and alternative roofing materials of the buildings located in the chosen region in Karabük-Safranbolu province were examined in terms of the amount of precipitation water to be collected. In addition, these materials have also been evaluated in terms of cost. The efficiency of roofing materials was compared by these obtained data. As a result of this, solution proposals are made by making general evaluations about the subject.
