Abstract
Phosphorus(P)is the most essential plant nutrient although numerous studies have been reported on P content around the country. There is limited information on the available P (Olsen P) (PY) at Harran plains. Therefore, there is a need for studies determining total P (PT), inorganic P (Pİ) and organic P (PO). In this study, soil samples were taken from 16 different spots and analyzed at the three different soil layers (0-20, 20-40 and 40-60 cm depth) at Harran plains. It was found high pH value (7.6-8.7), low organic matter (OM) (%0.1-1.6) and salt content (0.5-15.4 dS m^-1), high lime content (%14-38), high exchange capacity (34-66 cmol kg^-1) and in a clay soil texture. Based on our statistical analyses, it was found that PT is 343-894 mg kg^-1 (0-20 cm), 313-881 mg kg^-1 (20-40 cm) and 298-551 mg kg^-1 (40-60 cm). While Pİ found to be 307-835 mg kg^-1 (0-20 cm), 281-847 mg kg-1 (20-40 cm), 280-539 mg kg^-1 (40-60 cm), PO showed 17-60 mg kg^-1 (0-20 cm), 15-38 mg kg^-1 (20-40 cm), 7-39 mg kg^-1 (40-60 cm). Amount of PY for the three different soil layer, ranged from 2-36 mg kg^-1 (0-20 cm), 1-23 mg kg^-1 (20-40 cm), 0.2-21 mg kg^-1 (40-60 cm). In general, soil PT, Pi ve Po concentrations decreased as soil depth increased.
