Abstract :
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the prevalence of female sexual distress during pregnancy and associated factors. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out with 310 pregnant women in a hospital between March 2018 and June 2018. Data were collected by using questionnaire form prepared in accordance with the literature and Female Sexual Distress Scale. Results: It was determined that the pregnant women included in the study had an average age of 28.30 ± 5.12 years in the 18-43 age range. 83.2% of the pregnant women stated that the frequency of sexual intercourse during pregnancy decreased, 80.0% reported decreased sexual desire during pregnancy, 71.9% did not find sexuality safe in pregnancy and 58.7% stated that they feared of sexuality during pregnancy. The rate of pregnant women who scored over ≥11.5 according to the cut-off point of the Female Sexual Distress Scale was 34.2%. A statistically significant relationship was found between age, education level, duration of marriage, number of pregnancies, decrease in sexual desire, fear of having sex in pregnancy and finding sexuality safe (P 0.05). Coclusion: In line with the findings obtained from the study, it was determined that the sexuality and sexual intercourse frequency of women decreased and their sexuality was affected negatively during pregnancy.
