Abstract :
The number of employees working in the tourism sector, which is ranked at fourth in the world, is accounted to % 7,6 of the total employment of the world. Needless to say that, researches related to staff productivity have been getting more significance for establishments in the sector which have important contributions to employment. Motivation of staff looms large between factors affecting staff productivity. This is because that establishments with high staff motivation have higher employee performance and job satisfaction and lower levels of negative factors such as absenteeism and labor turnover. This situation makes the issue more important for establishments with high turnover rates. In the study, questionnaires were applied to 107 permanent employees in 24 accommodation establishments existing in Edremit Bay to examine whether demographic characteristics affect motivation of staff working 1, 2, 3, and 4 star hotels in Edremit Bay. Findings showed that job motivations of staff weren’t affected by their demographic characteristics. Variance analyses and independent t-test were used as a statistical mean in the study
